2024 International Perspectives: A Forum on Tourism in Southern Taiwan
“Your Everyday is the Landscape I Journey to See.”
Considering Regional Tourism in Taiwan through a One Brand Policy
According to Time Out, Tainan ranks among Asia’s top eight travel destinations for 2025, demonstrating Southern Taiwan's prominence in the international tourism market. As the global economy increasingly emphasizes soft power, the tourism industry has entered a period of robust growth and expansion. However, in this post-pandemic era, changes in tourism demand and “overtourism” have become significant issues. How should Taiwan's tourism industry respond to these challenges? And how can tourism in Taiwan continue to expand its presence on the international stage?
RhyanTaiwan has again taken an international perspective. In collaboration with the Siraya National Scenic Area Administration, we held International Perspectives: A Forum on Tourism in Taiwan in 2024. Through this forum, we launched strategies and proposals for practical action and invited several international experts to examine tourism in southern Taiwan. This work aims to make Taiwan’s tourism more market-oriented while delving into the development and future of travel in Taiwan from multiple perspectives.
By integrating ecotourism and local cultures of southern Taiwan, including cultures of the Siraya people, the Yunlin-Chiayi-Tainan area, and the Kaohsiung-Pingtung area, we are creating a one-brand marketing approach. We combine local stories with innovative product experiences to both satisfy the demand of international travelers for culturally immersive tourism and create destinations that people will wish to visit again. Through targeted international marketing, we are developing a distinctive brand identity for tourism in Taiwan, showcasing Southern Taiwan’s vast potential as a global travel destination. This strategic branding will establish the region as a premier destination for international travelers seeking to discover Taiwan’s hidden gems.
